Pregnancy & Prenatal Care Specialist

The expecting mother goes through a miraculous journey on the way to motherhood. Physical changes take place to accommodate the growing baby inside, and prepare the body for delivery. Hormones flow through her, relaxing ligaments and opening up joints. The ribs and pelvis expand outward. Each month presents new changes. It’s understandable that mothers with a baby on the way want Pregnancy & Prenatal Chiropractic Care.  And that is precisely where Dr. Adler and Adler Comprehensive Chiropractic can help.

Those changes are often accompanied with discomfort, and sometimes pain. As you gain weight and your baby grows, the stress on your body is at an all-time high. The low back is a common site, but so is the neck and upper back. Feet, ankles, knees, and hips are all working overtime, too. Sciatic complaints are often reported. The right adjustment at the right time is exactly what you need to keep everything in proper alignment.  Pregnancy & Prenatal Chiropractic Care resolves these discomforts.

“There is not a group of patients more in need of chiropractic care than the pregnant population,” says Dr. David Adler. “The work their body is doing goes hand in hand with the work we do on the body. In addition to the hundreds of pregnant women I’ve seen over my career, it’s also something I personally experienced – adjusting my wife throughout both of her pregnancies.”

Chiropractic care during your pregnancy has been proven to reduce the need for c-sections, helps with the nausea and heartburn/acid reflux associated with pregnancy, and eliminates the aches and pains every mother will tell you comes with the baby. You don’t have to suffer through those things, though.

Dr. Adler is currently accepting new pregnant patients from Roswell, Cumming, Johns Creek, Norcross, Sandy Springs, Marietta, Alpharetta, and North Fulton County, Georgia.  Click here to schedule your appointment today.

Pregnancy & Prenatal Chiropractic Care Q & A

by David N. Adler, DC

Before we can answer any questions, there are some terms you need to know. Dr. Adler specializes in the detection and correction of the “Vertebral Subluxation Complex.” Vertebral subluxation is a condition where spinal vertebrae are not in the correct alignment and create changes in the ability of the nervous system to communicate with the rest of the body clearly both from the brain to the body and the body back to the brain. This causes a less than optimal function and adaptability of the body.

Pregnancy & Prenatal Chiropractic Care is considered incredibly safe and beneficial for both you and your baby. Dr. Adler doesn’t touch your stomach, or do any adjustments that might harm your baby. Whatever you might know about chiropractic does not apply to the pregnant patient. Positions, techniques and force all change. The further along you are, the more gentle the treatment will be.

You shouldn’t experience any painful or uncomfortable sensations during chiropractic adjustments when you undergo care. Instead, you and your baby will have a better chance of having an easy pregnancy and delivery. In addition to the benefits listed above, chiropractic has been proven to help with low back pain during pregnancy, sciatica as a result of your pregnancy, and even nausea associated with your pregnancy.

If you have any concerns about chiropractic care during pregnancy, you can always discuss them with Dr. Adler.

Pregnancy care provides a number of advantages that benefit both you and your baby. These include the following:

  • Reduced risk of bed rest or serious complications
  • Lower risk of needing a C-section, which is a more risky form of delivery than vaginal births
  • Faster and easier delivery
  • Plenty of space for your baby to grow and develop in the womb
  • Relief for common pregnancy symptoms, such as lower back pain, sciatica and ankle swelling
  • No X-rays or invasive techniques required
  • Pain relief without having to take medications

As early as possible! You can have pregnancy care at any point during your pregnancy, but the sooner you come in, the sooner we can develop a care plan for you. Having chiropractic care done during your entire pregnancy helps improve your chance of having an easier delivery, and reduces your risk of developing complications. Dr. Adler has had many referrals from OB/GYNs for pregnancy care, and has more than 28 years of experience providing this type of care.

Dr. Adler performs adjustments to your pelvis and sacrum that provide your breech baby with more room to move around. This technique, known as the Webster Breech Turning Technique, involves gentle movements that realign the pelvis and sacrum.  This has a direct affect on the balance of the ligaments that support the womb. When Dr. Adler performs this technique, it also relaxes your ligaments and muscles, which makes it easier for you to deliver your baby when the time comes. In fact, the Webster Technique has a very high success rate for correcting breech babies’ positions. This helps breech babies turn to the right position for labor and delivery, which reduces your risk of needing a C-section. Dr. Adler has been using the Webster Breech Turning Technique for over 28 years, and was lucky enough to learn and train from Dr. Webster himself.
